We were really touched by this Christian Compassion Project. It took three flights and a lot of planning to reach this remote part of Colombia. Even Google struggled to show us where Chigorodo was. Coming into land at nearby Aeroporto, we could see vast areas of banana plantations as far as the eye could see. When we arrived at the project, we were told that we were the first child sponsors to come to the project from anywhere in the world. That made us feel special.
The overwhelming desire is to help in the best way possible. We saw a half completed school with two classrooms still needing to be built as well as a toilet block. Having these two class rooms built and fully fuctional meant 150 new children could receive as daily meal and an education.
In all our extensive travel throughout South America this was a high need project that we wanted to invest in. We personally funded USD $7500 OF A USD$10,000 project for the school.
The Photographs show several before (we took them in July last year 2010), and the just recently received finished project. It makes us very grateful that we could play a part in making their dream come true. And it will allow hundreds if not thousands of the most beautiful children in the world to go to school and learn that Gods Love can touch their lives if they allowed it to happen.
I also received a letter from the project which has been translated:
Chigorodó, August 31st, 2011
May the Almighty God fill you with great blessings.
“We are pleased to thank you for the support you have given us; I know that God will multiply greatly your seed in this ministry. With the donation that you send us we were able to start the great longing that was in our hearts to start building the second floor of our Project, since the work began we could build on August the stairs and finish the first classroom, as shown in the photographs. Now, we just need to finish another classroom with it health services, plaster, ceramic and windows.
On behalf of the Project Committee, the administrative area and the Community in general, we are extremely grateful for your support.
We wish you many blessings for your entire family in each of your areas, so that God continue to guide your lives. “My loved one, it is my prayer that you may do well in all things, and be healthy in body, even as your soul does well” – 3 John 2.
With gratitude, a God bless you”
